Regular forms
for one-syllable adjectives and some two-syllable adjectives:+ -er / -est
(fast → faster → fastest, clever→ cleverer→ cleverest)
for longer adjectives and some two-syllable adjectives:more / most + base form
(powerful → more powerful → most powerful)
for two-syllable adjectives ending in -y:change y to i + -er / -est
(early → earlier → earliest)
